Why It Matters

The next challenge in the CivX for Smart Cities Series will explore how advanced drone (UAS) technologies can transform the way cities operate, improving safety, efficiency, and resilience across urban systems. Participants - ranging from startups to academic researchers - will be invited to develop innovative UAS solutions that support real-time decision-making, autonomous operations, and intelligent infrastructure monitoring. From emergency response to transportation management, the challenge seeks scalable, dual-use applications that strengthen both civilian services (e.g., emergency response, traffic management) and commercial capabilities (e.g., logistics, inspections) in the evolving landscape of smart cities.
