Abstract

The Reticulum-TAK (RTAK) team integrates ATAK/CivTAK with the Reticulum network stack -a truly decentralized and resilient wireless network protocol— that can operate over multiple radio links such as LoRa, WiFi and even satellite links using cryptographic principles to ensure secure peer-to-peer communications for first responders. RTAK supports ad-hoc mesh networking that can scale from a few nodes to a large, distributed network which is ideal for disaster relief and search-and-rescue operations, where adding new network nodes on-the-fly is critical. Furthermore, by allowing multiple communication paths, RTAK will be able to dynamically reroute traffic if some paths or compromised or experience high interference which is vital for emergency scenarios where signal degradation is common.
